Why is a good logo important for any business?
A logo is…to put it simply, an identification. You want others to remember your company name and the things you do more than anything else. However, a good simple logo that is easily associated to your company and your trade will definitely give you the extra edge. Associating your logo colours with your branding is of course crucial. Again, it helps your customers identify your logo with your brand. Of course, logo and brand are 2 completely different entities. More information on that topic can be read here.
A good logo is should be distinct, appropriate, practical, graphic and simple. An over the top logo will only be confusing and at times forgettable. It must be able to convey the owner’s intended message. A concept or “meaning” is usually behind an effective logo, and it communicates the purpose of the company. A logo design should be able to be printed at any size and, in most cases, be effective in grayscale. At the end of the day, your logo must speak the following : great concept and great execution.
An important tip to remember once you have your logo design
What most companies fail to realise is the importance of having a high-res soft copy of your logo. Design agencies come and go. They will not be there storing your logo for eternity. How many times have you seen a sponsorship banner displaying a sponsor’s logo with a bad resolution? Guess what? 99% chance that company does not have a copy of their high-res logo. In this time and age of technology, make it a point to keep a few copies of your high-res logo either in your thumb drive or cloud storage. You’ll never know when you might be needing it.
